A woman contacted me to see if I could help her unravel her ancestors.  It seems nearly everyone in her family had married about 5 times.  She was so confused she couldn’t figure out who was who.  She had gotten her DNA results back and needed someone to help to interpret them.  I like a challenge and agreed to assist her in this endeavor.  And Boy was it a challenge.

I quickly started working on all the marriages she was telling me about.  Not only did a number of marriages take place, but children would be born as one name and registered in school with the name of the current husband and shown on census records as their child, rather than step-child and would later be shown as the next husband’s children.  I guess there was a time this could be easily done.  I don’t think that is possible this day and time.
